This is an experience based class. Participants will NOT take home the work they make.
Our Introduction class lets students explore clay and techniques without the pressure of finished pieces. Fired clay can last for thousands of years, and the materials and firing process have an environmental impact. Our environmentally conscious approach guides how we teach, make, and fire work in the studio.

Build on your wheel-throwing skills in this Wheel I, 6-week course at The Clay Well. Students will focus on refining core techniques such as centering, pulling walls, and trimming, with an emphasis on making more complex forms.
This is an experience-based class focused on skill development. To support mindful making and our environmentally conscious studio practices, participants may keep one to two finished pots made during the course.
Students should have previous wheel experience and be comfortable centering clay independently prior to enrollment. This prerequisite helps ensure that participants are prepared to fully engage with the class and focus on refining and expanding their throwing skills.

Interested in expanding your wheel skills even more? In this Wheel II, 6-week course at The Clay Well. Students will work on more advanced techniques, including lids and handles, creating multi-part pieces, glazing, refining forms, and techniques.
This is an experience-based class focused on skill development. To support mindful making and our environmentally conscious studio practices, participants may keep three to four finished pots made during the course.
Completion of Wheel I at The Clay Well (or equivalent experience) is required. This course builds upon foundational skills while introducing more advanced throwing techniques and increased project complexity.

Second Sunday with Clay is a low-barrier handbuilding clay class designed to support creativity and connection in the community. Each month, adults ages 18 and older are invited to participate in a guided, experience-based session working with clay in local cafés and community spaces around Fairbanks.
Each monthly session features a different handbuilding project. Locations may vary month to month and will be announced in advance.

When: Second Sundays are held on the second Sunday of each month, from 3:00pm – 6:00pm.
Registration: Registration opens on the first day of each month (January 1, February 1, etc.).
